This is the second generation of the Columbia 30/32 (now Columbia 32 Sport) and was built for the owner of the company and then owned by the designer of the boat. Only four of these hulls were built and this is the only one that is 7/8 rigged and modified by the designer. Changes from the original 30 design include longer effective waterline, longer forestay (increased sail area), redesigned bulb shape and lighter overall displacement – resulting in faster upwind and downwind performance. I purchased the boat in late 2010. The boat was launched in 2007. It was dry sailed until I purchased her. She was very lightly raced until 2011. Boat builder and designers are always sailing on someone else’s boat! Designer, sail maker and builder advised on upgrades and modifications. Her sister Columbia 32 hit 26 kts and won its class in the San Francisco to Hawaii 2012 Pacific Cup.
Hull construction, vinylester vacuum resin infused E-glass with PVC foam core. Carbon Fiber Superstructure handles all the mast, rigging and keel loads.
This particular boat is unique as it is has a number of go fast upgrades and a 7/8 rig not found on her sister ships and is the lightest of this generation of the Columbia 32s.
This boat was built to race and she wins!
What do you need to win races? A good skipper and great crew!
This is a racing boat that podiums and beats the big boys! Think big dinghy!
